Edna Clifton

In my 40 plus years in Nursing,  I have worked in education, administration, acute care, home health, hospice and quality improvement. I earned my Masters in Business in Administration with the goal of gaining a better understanding of finance and quality improvement initiatives related to healthcare. Throughout the years, I have learned about the different healthcare providers and their focus. I also recognized the gaps people face when trying to navigate through the healthcare continuum. Being aware of the gaps and the difficulty they present to patients and families, I felt that patient advocacy was the best way to smooth out the healthcare journey that people face through education, guidance, and communication.

Understanding Medicare, Medicaid, insurance, and Advantage Plans is a complex science and keeping updated with their constant changes is critical to making the right decisions when planning a course of care. Advocacy will assist patients and families to achieve their health care goals and improve their outcomes. I truly feel that in this role I can help reduce the anxiety many people experience when facing an illness. My goal is to help people understand their care and to assist them in achieving their goals.
